Reflecting Pond

‘Neath willow’s sweeping locks of green,
shadowed cool, small glimpses seen
of summer’s sun, there dancing.
Silent pond and time repose
in calm reflection, so propose
to let thoughts pass, chancing
moments lost to busy day,
by purposed tasks beyond this fray,
and restful aging counted…

Yet time eternal here is kept
where cotton’d seeds
of pond’s bank trees
drift silent from the boughs they’ve lept,
to rest and glide
on pond’s glass surface, mounted…

Although the mid-day’s heat is high,
such musky cool herein belies
and calms the senses broader,
quieted by a dragon fly’s hum,
hushed in robin’s foraging sum,
green glass reflecting pond, such fodder
that stills this world to peace,
grants a fretful brow release,
thus brings new hope to light…
