Red Cloud's Vision

I took a long walk through the woods today, in the snow. Was absolutely beautiful. I went to a place that I refer to as my church, in an area known as Pingree Park. It was a bit cold at 10,000 ft, but I was prepared. Nothing but good.

I went to wander around the woods, feel the fresh alpine air, and simple have a short discussion with God.

I’ve been quite worried lately about Red Cloud’s vision. The one about the Blue Man and the four colored horses the will bring the end of White Man’s dominance. I believe that these four horses of destruction are in our midst already, yet we, as the Dominant Society, have refused to pay heed… As Ed Gaa describes it, the first horse, the yellow one, is the horse of Heat, and can be embodied in the current global warming catastrophe. The second, a black horse, known as Thin, is relative to the thinning ozone. The third horse, of white color, is known as Gone, is relative to the recently accelerated extinction of many plant and animal species. The fourth, a red horse, known as Too Many, is relative to overpopulation.

I haven’t flipped my lid here. Just think about it. Climate change is the number one concern among developed or first world countries. It has been receiving much attention, and some of the greatest minds, backed by detailed studies and scientific facts, are raising the level of their warnings almost daily. Other data concerning the degradation of complete eco-environments has brought many to believe that the sixth extinction is nearly at hand, and will include the demise of humans. And, of course, over population is basically at the source of it all…

Red Cloud mentioned that the Blue Man was the catalyst for this all, and I believe that this correlates to our ignorance, our arrogance, and our inability or lack of desire, to pay attention to our own self propagating demise… In effect, we wallow in our own wastes and refuse to change our ways. In fact, we spend billions of dollars trying to put some sort of positive spin on it all…

Anyway – back to the mountain… I walked around and spoke out loud. Asking questions about all of this. "What more can I do?", "How will I show people and convince them that their individual actions need to change?", How can I possibly help to bring ourselves back to a balance with nature, before it’s too late?"…

To all of these questions, I simply received more snow… In fact, after I had exhausted my breath, an eerie silence fell over the entire area – not a sound… Maybe this is the Creator’s way of telling me that it’s simply too late.

Hard to believe. Harder to accept. Yet what are the possibilities of actually reversing the trend of years of over population, environmental degradation, and such, within what may be the few short years left? Is it even possible at this point? I sure hope so, and will never stop trying… However, when I do the math, it simply begins to look impossible. Maybe we’ll just have to hope that one-sixth of the world population can hold on, make it through the natural calamity, and bring balance back on the other side… Wow - …

The walk was good – and the woods were deep and sweet with kindness. Always feel right at home, and I did come back down the hill with a revitalized demeanor…

Finding a Truth

It’s Sunday. It’s been snowing here in Colorado. A really nice spring snow. It was near 70 yesterday morning, and by nightfall, the snow was flyin’… This morning it looked like 6 or more inches on the back yard picnic table..
Really wet snow, tho.

I’ve been reading a lot. I find myself reaching for a truth, something that I believe to be prevalent in my beliefs, in my values, but is not necessarily worn on my sleeve… With my ongoing connection to nature, and the balance therein, I’ve come to know what I can only declare as the thoughts of God. I see it in the alpine forests, as a relationship between every living thing, displaying respect and understanding to a greater balance. I even feel it in what might be deemed as inanimate objects, such as the rocks and the streams.

There is something within this witnessed balance, within the benevolence that is obvious. I believe that our true path, as individuals, and as societies, is placed squarely within the truth of nature, within the balance of life. Regardless of our religious backgrounds, race, upbringing or societal fortune, our future success is completely dependent on a renewed understanding and appreciation of nature’s way.

Within such are lessons of family, individuality, honesty, truth, freedom, sacrifice, community… and all of this wrapped in the understanding of balance, of place within the greater scheme of life.

This truth I feel that I am reaching for, is burgeoning from my soul as I have come to understand my own feelings of what I have learned in nature’s way, in what I have witnessed in the woods, by the streams, on the lone mountain top, for the past 25 years. I believe that the thoughts of God are messaged within the whispers in the forest, and that there is a message there for us to hear, for us to act upon… We must seek to rebalance ourselves, our religion, our values, and our truths in nature’s way – or potentially perish…

I will strive to do my part, to bring my insights and understanding to others, to help turn the tide by peaceful and constructive means… I hope that you too can seek your own silence, find the truth, and realize the path of true life, as I have…
